Project Overview
The Moyale border is situated along a section of the Trans African highway approximately 780 km South of Addis Ababa and 800 km North of Nairobi (Kenya). Moyale border is a key outpost for the facilitation of trade between Ethiopia and Kenya, mainly processing agricultural products and manufactured goods.
The Governments of Ethiopia and Kenya completed the construction of One-Stop Border Posts (OSBP) facilities at Moyale in 2019 as part of the LAPSSET project.
Scope of work
Proess and IVX carried out a Time and Traffic Survey (TTS) at Moyale border post between Ethiopia and Kenya, and measured border-crossing time in order to identify and explain the extent, and causes of delays, assuming an OSBP setup, to simulate the intended operations.
Services offered
- Obtained vehicular traffic volume statistics disaggregated by day and vehicle category.
- Obtained queue time and customs processing times.
- Established cross-border trader traffic.
- Undertook a User Satisfaction Survey (USS) of the current facilities at the border to identify and explain the extent and causes of delays.
